Day 284 - Happy Hobbit Day, from the archives!

Back in the mists of Internet time, before the dawn of Tumblr and blogging and YouTube and social networking, the place to be if you wanted a Middle-earth fix was LordOfTheRings.net - the official website for The Lord of the Rings films.

There were all sorts of digital goodies you could download from the site, images and wallpapers and movies and screensavers (remember those?) and while a lot of them eventually found their way onto the Lord of the Rings DVD’s, many have been lost….until now.

Some dedicated hobbits saved and archived everything that the site had, the moment it was released, and its been sitting in server archives ever since. Now though I’m blowing the dust off and in celebration of Hobbit Day and with new films right around the corner I’m going to post a selection of the best Hobbit-centric things that you may have never seen before, from my archive.

Happy Hobbit Day, everybody!
