Day 260 - a tale of 2 skies

What a storm it was, blowing in from nowhere into a calm day. In moments rivers were running and puddles became lakes. Lightning flashed, thunder rumbled, hail bounced on the ground and chaos rained.

Then, in a handful of minutes, it stopped and the battle was joined in the sky, thunder clouds being pushed back by sunlight and fast forming cumulus. The storm clouds flashed with lightning in protest before they were finally defeated and peace reigned once more.

Day 246 - a spot or two of rain…

It sounds like I was standing next to a waterfall, doesn’t it? Sadly I was nowhere near one, but I was right in the middle of a huge deluge this afternoon that turned the lanes into rivers and lakes. 25 seconds was enough to get utterly soaked, or the recording would have been longer!

Day 235 - Sudden summer storms

August is the month for them in the shire. Appearing seemingly out of nowhere on sunny afternoons, they’re announced only with a light rain that builds and builds into sudden echoes of lazy thunder before fading away as swiftly as they come.

They’re a soundtrack to an authentic shire summer, no angry and spectacular storms here but instead just languid, friendly reminders from nature as to who is really in charge of the land…

Day 184 - Clouds gather

The winds keep blowing, the clouds grow and obscure the morning patches of sunlight and the rain returns after only a few hours respite. A storm is coming and it seems set to stay.
